Recently, Johan Dippenaar, chief executive of Petra Diamonds Ltd. said in a statement that a 507.55-carat diamond (the size of a chicken egg) has been found at South Africa’s Cullinan mine. The diamond was one of the biggest diamonds ever found.
Here are some of the world’s biggest/largest diamonds:
1. The Incomparable – At 890 carats, this rough diamond was a hit when discovered in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

2. The Spirit of de Grisogono – It is considered world’s largest cut black diamond, and the 5th largest diamond overall. It is much larger than the Black Orlov, weighing at 312.24 carats, while the original rough diamond was 587 carats.

3. The Golden Jubilee – First weighing in at 755 carats, this magnificent brownish-gold rough diamond was discovered in South Africa in 1985. The resulting faceted diamond weighs 545.67 carats, which is currently the largest faceted diamond in the world.

4. Cullinan Diamond – Said to be the largest diamond in the world, weighing in at 3,106 carats. It was discovered in Africa.

5. Still unnamed diamond – A 507.55-carat gem. Also found at Cullinan mine, where the largest diamond in history was found.

6. The Darya-ye Noor Diamond – the largest pink diamond in the world, about 182 carats (36 g), part of Iranian Crown Jewels.

7. Jacob Diamond – ranked seventh in the world, weighing 184.5 carats. Also known earlier as the Imperial Diamond.
